The Opera del Duomo Museum at a glance
The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo is the museum of the cathedral complex, at Piazza del Duomo 9. It was founded in 1891 and redesigned in 2015. It covers more than 6,000 m² on 3 floors, with 28 rooms. Stairs and lifts connect the floors.
The museum keeps the originals of works that once stood on the cathedral, the baptistery and the bell tower. The best known are Michelangelo's Pietà Bandini, Donatello's Mary Magdalene and the Paradise Door by Ghiberti. A wooden model of the dome is also on display. The museum is included in every regular pass. See the Florence Duomo tickets page for the prices.

What to see in the museum
The works most visitors come for.
Michelangelo's Pietà Bandini
This is a different work from the Pietà in the Vatican, so do not mix the two up. For Michelangelo's other work in the city, see Michelangelo in Florence.
Donatello's Mary Magdalene
Donatello's Mary Magdalene is one of the museum's best-known works and is worth a stop of its own.
The original Paradise Door
Ghiberti's East Door of the baptistery with its 10 Old Testament panels. The door on the baptistery today is a copy. Read more on the baptistery page.
The north and south doors
The originals of the north door by Ghiberti and the south door by Andrea Pisano are here too.
Statues and the dome model
Statues from the old facade of the cathedral stand in the halls, and a wooden model of the dome is on display.
Our pick: the museum with a guide
Our take: a guided hour in the museum puts the original sculptures in context, and the dome is included too.

Tickets for the museum
The museum is part of all regular passes. You always buy it with one of the passes. Prices below are 2026 prices for adults, with children aged 7 to 14 paying less and ages 0 to 6 free.
| Option | Adult | Ages 7 to 14 | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ghiberti Pass | €15 | €5 | Museum, baptistery, Santa Reparata |
| Giotto Pass | €20 | €7 | Adds the bell tower |
| Brunelleschi Pass | €30 | €12 | Adds the bell tower and the dome |
| Ghiberti On-site | €15 | €5 | Museum and baptistery, no Santa Reparata |
| Guided visit, baptistery and museum | €25 | €15 | Guide included, ages 0 to 6 free |
For most visitors the Ghiberti Pass at €15 is the cheapest way to see the museum, because it also covers the baptistery and Santa Reparata. The €25 guided visit costs €10 more and adds a guide for the baptistery and the museum; it makes sense if you want the stories behind the works. Ghiberti On-site is sold only at the ticket office when the regular Ghiberti Pass is not available, and not on the museum's closed day.
