Florence Duomo opening hours 2026 at a glance
The Duomo of Florence is not one ticket office and one door. The cathedral, the dome, the bell tower, the baptistery, the museum and the ruins of Santa Reparata each have their own hours and their own rules. The cathedral is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday from 10:15 to 15:45. On Sundays and during religious celebrations there are no tourist visits.
Dome, bell tower and Santa Reparata need a booked time slot with a pass, so the hours below are only half of the plan. The Duomo tickets and passes page explains which pass fits which visit. Check the current timetable before you go, because maintenance closures can change a day.

Hours for each part of the complex
General hours for 2026. The last start slot for the climbs is earlier than the closing time.
| Area | Hours | Last start slot | Closed or limited |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cathedral | Mon to Sat 10:15–15:45 | – | No tourist visits on Sundays or during religious celebrations |
| Dome, Mon to Fri | 08:15–19:30 | 18:45 | Maintenance closures possible |
| Dome, Saturday | 08:15–17:15 | 16:30 | Maintenance closures possible |
| Dome, Sunday and holidays | 12:45–17:15 | 16:30 | Changes possible around services |
| Bell tower | Daily 08:15–19:30 | 18:45 | Maintenance closures possible |
| Baptistery | Daily 08:30–19:30 | – | First Sunday of the month: ends at 13:30 |
| Museo dell'Opera del Duomo | Daily 08:30–19:00 | – | Closed on the first Tuesday of the month |
| Santa Reparata | Mon to Sat 10:15–16:00; Sun and religious holidays 13:30–16:00 | Your booked slot with the Ghiberti Pass | Special liturgies possible |
For most visitors the easiest day runs in this order: the dome in a morning slot, the cathedral between 10:15 and 15:45, then the museum and the baptistery in the afternoon. On a Sunday the dome opens later, at 12:45, and the cathedral has no tourist visits, so plan the dome and museum instead.

Last start slot versus closing time
For the dome and the bell tower the table has two times. The closing time of 19:30 is the end of operation. The last start slot of 18:45 is the latest time you can begin the climb. Do not treat the closing time as the time to arrive.
The dome slot is strict. You may arrive about 5 minutes before or after your booked time, and you need an ID that matches the name on the ticket. Be at the Porta della Mandorla on the north side a few minutes ahead. Medium and large bags and backpacks must be left at the luggage storage first. The dome climb page has the rules for the 463 steps.
Closed days and maintenance in November 2026
The whole tourist complex is closed on 1 January, on Easter Sunday and on 25 December. Besides these, two maintenance closures apply in November 2026:
- Giotto's Bell Tower: closed 9 to 13 November 2026.
- Dome: closed 16 to 20 November 2026.
The museum closes every first Tuesday of the month, and the baptistery closes early on the first Sunday of the month. The mosaics in the baptistery vault are not visible during the restoration. The bell tower is open during its restoration, but the view can be limited. If a closure falls on your trip, choose another start date for your pass.
